What is Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is a special form of physiotherapy slightly different from what people are
accustomed too. This form of physiotherapy consists of internal and external assessment and aids in
healthy function of pelvic floor muscles, your pelvic floor supports the function of your bladder, colon,
and uterus, Pelvic floor health is often neglected which sometimes leads to long term issues such as
constipation, urine leakage, frequent urination, vaginismus and many more life hindering conditions.

How Does Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy Work?

Pelvic floor physiotherapy is different than traditional physiotherapy, Pelvic floor muscles need to be
worked on from the inside meaning the physiotherapist will have to conduct internal exams and work
with the muscles through that process. Alongside internal therapy you will also need to do a series of
external work which involves stretches, exercises, etc. Some examples of exercises would be Kegels,
they are a very effective exercise when it comes to strengthen your pelvic floor muscles and our
physiotherapist’s create custom exercise routines tailored to your condition.
